Six sigma is basically a tool based on mathematical and statistical results and provides best results due to six sigma training. The whole idea revolves around the customer satisfaction and defects are 3.4 per million. The desired results are achieved by control of variation which is achieved by using statistical tools which includes multitasking of many parameters and different aspects of the entire process.

How to Devise a Six Sigma Metric?

There should be start by taking a very simple example. Let’s consider 3 tasks and each of them has only 1 acceptable performance. The possibility is there that they are inter related or may not be. And keep in mind the statistical measures.

Some valuable Considerations before You….

Usage of Composite Metrics: Choose a proper composite metric which can be very helpful in many areas. You can also use it for calculating the whole over all performance of a large number of data but be careful about the altering parameters.

Breaking Up of The Project: If there is enough time available then deal all 3 tasks separately and apply metrics on each of them separately.

Usage of A DFSS Scorecard: When DPMOs and standard deviations are known then DFSS is very helpful tool to use and many experts recommend it very strongly.

Some Guidelines to follow….

You must pay complete attention to all metrics and do analysis of all one by one. Many companies now use the % of points for more effectiveness.
