The Gateway computer brand is part of the 3rd largest computer company in the world. The company was acquired several years ago by a Japanese company, although their headquarters are still located in California. The company was started in 1985 by 2 people and has become a billion dollar company, known for producing high quality machines at affordable prices.

The 400xl Memory Gateway notebook comes standard with a PC-2100 speed, 2 memory banks and 2 sockets. The standard RAM option available on this notebook is 256MB, with a maximum RAM option of 512MB. Each of these notebook computers also comes with an Intel 845 MZ processor. The Gateway 400xl Memory computer works at its optimal level when all of the memory banks are utilizing their available RAM. If the memory banks become filled, you can replace them with a Gateway memory kit option. There are two Gateway memory options available, either the 256 MB PC-2100 DDR DO DIMM or the 128 MB PC-2100 DDR SO DIMM. These memory banks are offered for $25-$40 USD.

The 400xl Memory Gateway computer can be purchased at select retailers, online, over the phone or through their direct sales force. The company has been in business since 1985 and is located in Irvine, California. One of the most unique features of the company is their recycling program. If you bring in a used computer, you can receive a credit toward the purchase of your new computer when you buy a new Gateway product. There is a calculator on their website to help you to determine the approximate trade in value for your machine.
